Venezuelan influencer arrested over alleged ‘terrorist’ ties

NEW DELHI: Venezuelan YouTuber Oscar Alejandro, known for his travel videos, was detained in Caracas for alleged ties to ‘terrorist activities,’ as per his family. However, authorities have not commented anything on this matter.
His family in a statement said that as per the available information Alenjandro’s arrest is linked to accusations of terrorist activities.
He was arrested at the city’s airport while he was on his way to Canaima, a national park famous for Angel Falls.
With a significant online following, Alejandro’s content showcases his global adventures.
Venezuelan authorities have reported uncovering six alleged terrorism-related schemes this year, resulting in over 40 arrests, including activists.
The specifics of the accusations against Alejandro have not been disclosed by officials yet.
The YouTuber, Oscar Alejandro Perez Martinez, boasts nearly two million subscribers on YouTube and over 580,000 followers on Instagram. The case remains under investigation with more details awaited from the authorities.
