‘Sandeshkhali incident extremely shameful, if true’: Calcutta HC slams West Bengal govt | Kolkata News

KOLKATA: Calcutta high court on Thursday slammed the Bengal government while hearing the Sandeshkhali violence case.
Calling the case ‘extremely shameful, if true’ the court pulled up the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC)-led government, saying safety of citizens falls entirely within their ‘responsibility.’
Sandeshkhali, located in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, has become a focal point of political controversy for almost two months now.The village was engulfed in widespread protests following accusations of sexual abuse leveled by numerous women against a local TMC leader, Sheikh Shahjahan, who was identified as the primary conspirator.
