Gill, speaking at the post-match presentation, refrained from attributing the dismal performance to the pitch conditions, instead directing attention to the poor shot selection by his team’s batters.
“Our batting performance was very average,” lamented Gill, who himself was dismissed for a meager 8 runs. He remarked, “I think the wicket was alright, to be honest… Just a bad batting performance and poor shot selection, I would say.”
This marked the second instance in the IPL 2024 season where GT’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure, reminiscent of their earlier collapse against the Lucknow Super Giants. Despite the setback, Gill remained optimistic, stating, “This is just the halfway mark of the season for us… hopefully we win another 5-6 from the next 7 like in the last couple of years.”
