Mumbai Indians’ Tilak Varma Inspires Budding Cricketers with Gesture After Match Win | Cricket News

Tilak Varma‘s quickfire innings in Mumbai Indians’ away game against Punjab Kings at Mullanpur on Thursday proved crucial in the end result that saw MI beating the hosts by nine runs in a last-over finish, after which the MI batsman showed his softer side by gifiting his gloves to budding cricketers.

Varma played an unbeaten knock of 34 off 18 balls that powered Mumbai to 192 for 7.

Punjab came close, thanks to Ashutosh Sharma’s 28-ball 61, but could only reach 183 in 19.1 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah (3/21) and Gerald Coetzee (3/32) took three wickets each to lead the MI bowling figures.
But before leaving the stadium, Varma made the day of three young girls, who were supporting Punjab Kings but went home as Tilak Varma fans after they received a gift from the batsman.
In a video shared by MI, Varma could be seen walking up to the dressing room balcony carrying a pair of his batting gloves, which he then threw towards the girls who caught those with glee.

“Scored 34* (18), took an important catch and this…Gave two budding cricketers a reason to believe in their dreams. Tilak Varma,” read the caption along with the post on microblogging platform ‘X’.
This was Mumbai’s third win in seven matches. The five-time champions are currently number seven on the points table.
