Chhattisgarh cop killed in accidental firing at ex-MLA’s bungalow | Raipur News

NEW DELHI: A Chhattisgarh police officer lost his life and another was injured in an accidental firing while cleaning their service weapons at the residence of a former MLA on Friday.
Preliminary information suggests that a bullet accidentally discharged from a pistol, piercing through the palm of assistant platoon commander Ram Kumar Dohare and hitting head constable Ajay Singh in the chest.”The two were shifted to a government hospital where Singh succumbed to the bullet wound. Dohare is undergoing treatment,” a police official stated. Singh was from Bijuri, while Dohare is a native of Bhind in Madhya Pradesh.
The two policemen were assigned to the security detail of Ashish Karma, the son of former MLA Devti Karma. The police official mentioned that although the incident appears to be a case of accidental firing, an investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
Just a day earlier, on Thursday, another incident of accidental firearm discharge claimed the life of a District Reserve Guard (DRG) constable and injured another policeman in the Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.
