Hardik Pandya: ‘Come up with plans…’: Mohammed Shami’s advice to ‘expensive’ Hardik Pandya

NEW DELHI: Jake Fraser-McGurk showcased his exceptional power-hitting skills as the Delhi Capitals stayed in contention for the IPL playoffs with a 10-run victory over the Mumbai Indians on Saturday.
Displaying his impressive big-hitting abilities, McGurk matched the intense Delhi heat with a blistering 27-ball 84, propelling the Delhi Capitals to a commanding total of 257 for four after being invited to bat first.
Tilak Varma (63) and Hardik Pandya (46) provided a brief hope for the Mumbai Indians with some powerful shots, but the Delhi bowlers, led by Rasikh Salam (3/34), consistently struck to keep the Mumbai side at 247 for nine.

The victory moved the Delhi Capitals to fifth place in the standings, while the Mumbai Indians remained in second-to-last place.
Among the Mumbai Indians’ bowlers, all-rounder Hardik Pandya was notably expensive, conceding 41 runs in just two overs with an economy rate of 20.50.
Gujarat Titans’ pace star Mohammed Shami, who was ruled out of IPL 2024 due to ankle surgery, criticized Pandya’s bowling performance.

“Hardik Pandya gave away 41 runs in just 2 overs and took one wicket. He was very expensive. He gave away runs at a 20.5 economy rate. Mumbai Indians showed a solid fight back but fell short of just 10 runs,” Shami said on his YouTube channel.
“If the IPL 2024 is witnessing high-scoring games, so I would advise bowlers to come up with at least 2 to 3 plans. If their first plan doesn’t work, switch to second and if second doesn’t work, then switch to third,” he said.

With just 3 wins in 9 matches, Mumbai Indians are ninth in the points tally. They will next face Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday.
