Losing ten tosses in 11 matches! CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad says it’s… | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Ruturaj Gaikwad‘s misfortune with the toss persisted as the Chennai Super Kings skipper found himself on the losing end once again during their encounter with Punjab Kings in Dharamsala on Sunday. This marked the 10th occasion out of 11 matches where Gaikwad failed to secure a favourable outcome when the coin was flipped.
But this doesn’t seem to deter Gaikwad, as he believes that winning the game rather than the toss is more important.Despite losing the toss 10 times, CSK emerged victorious in 5 matches.

“We’ve just stuck to our process and doing little things right. We don’t look at the track record of the opposition, we focus on ourselves and see what we can do right. This season there have been a lot of injuries, flus and forced changes so we’ve had to tinker with our team. I’d say losing 10 tosses but winning 5 games is a positive,” Gaikwad said at the toss.

  • 10 – RR in 2022
  • 10 – CSK in 2024
  • 9 – MI in 2011
  • 9 – DC in 2013

Former CSK captain MS Dhoni lost 12 tosses during the 2012 season, yet the team reached the final.
Punjab Kings stand-in skipper Sam Curran opted to bowl after winning the toss and went with an unchanged XI.
Gaikwad brought in left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner in place of Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman who has returned home for national commitments.
Seamer Tushar Deshpande also returned for CSK in place of Sameer Rizvi.
