‘Pakistan not wearing bangles’: Farooq Abdullah on Rajnath Singh’s remark on PoK | India News

NEW DELHI: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah on Sunday warned that Pakistan possesses nuclear weapons that could be used against India. The senior NC leader was responding to defence minister Rajnath Singh‘s statement about merging Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) with India.
“If the defence minister is saying it, then go ahead. Who are we to stop? But remember, they (Pakistan) are also not wearing bangles. It has atom bombs, and unfortunately, that atom bomb will fall on us,” he said.
Previously, in April, while addressing a rally in Darjeeling, West Bengal, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed confidence that the people of PoK would eventually demand to be a part of India, considering the country’s ongoing development.
Singh reassured the audience, saying, “Don’t worry. PoK was, is and will remain ours.” He further added that India’s growing power, prestige, and economic progress would lead to the people of PoK wanting to join India.
External affairs minister S Jaishankar, during an interactive session in Cuttack, reiterated that PoK is an integral part of India, as stated in a resolution passed by the Indian Parliament.
He pointed out that people had been made to forget about PoK, but it has now returned to the consciousness of the Indian people. Jaishankar explained that PoK came under the control of another country due to the irresponsible custodianship of the region, allowing someone from outside to steal it.
