Arshdeep didn’t start the season the way he would have liked but he addressed the shortcomings and now has an impressive 15 wickets in 11 matches, with a best of 4/29.

However, his economy rate is on the higher side currently at 10.06.
Nevertheles, the pacer from Punjab has cemented his place in India’s white-ball squad, which showed in BCCI selectors’ continued trust in him when they picked him in India’s 15-man T20 World Cup squad.
“Amazing fellow,” said Dhawan talking about Arshdeep on the ‘Captains Speak’ segment of Star Sports ahead of Punjab’s match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Thursday.

“His self-belief is very strong, confidence is always there. He wasn’t able to perform that well lately but after that the way he showed his character in making a comeback, that was tremendous. He went back to play the Ranji (Trophy), went through the grind.”
“I am very, very sure he is in great shape and he’s going to do wonders. He has experience now, has (already) played for the Indian team. So the level of confidence is different,” Dhawan added.

Arshdeep has played 44 T20Is and 6 ODIs so far in his international career, picking up 62 and 10 wickets respectively.
While Punjab are not likely to make the playoffs with just 4 wins in 11 matches, Arshdeep will focus on the big T20 World Cup assignment, which comes soon after the conclusion of the IPL.
The IPL ends on May 26 and the T20 World Cup, co-hosted by the US and West Indies, will run from June 2 to 29.
