MP slaps NSA on 5 accused of gang-raping 16-yr-old, sends bulldozers to raze their houses | India News

BHOPAL: Five men accused of the gang rape of a 16-year-old in MP’s Shahdol were booked under National Security Act late Thursday night, police officer D C Sagar, told TOI. The administration demolished illegal parts of their houses.
On Monday evening, the class 10 student was returning home from tuition with a friend when five men waylaid them, dragged the girl into a forest and took turns to rape her.
ADG Sagar said the survivor’s courage helped nab the accused – Aishwarya Nidhi Gupta alias Lallu Gupta (36), Md Afzal Ansari (28), Kailash Panika (29), Sahil Qureshi (22) and Md Shamim (18). They were arrested from a jungle in the neighbouring Umaria district.
“It was a blind case, but we zeroed in on the suspects on information provided by our informers. We also used technical means,” the ADG said.. “The survivor is out of danger. She is traumatised, but she is a brave girl. Initially, we had difficulty locating the exact spot of the incident. She was in deep trauma, but volunteered in front of her parents and took our teams to the spot, where vital evidence was collected. She had even bitten one of the accused in her attempt to escape,” Sagar said.
