NEW DELHI: During the Indian Premier League 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders achieved a significant milestone by equalling the record for most wins at a single venue, matching the feat of five-time champions Mumbai Indians with 52 victories in the history of the cash-rich league.
In a thrilling encounter at Eden Gardens on Saturday, KKR showcased a remarkable comeback led by their spinners, derailing Mumbai Indians’ run-chase of 158 and restricting them to 139/8 in 16 overs.This victory propelled the two-time champions to become the first team to secure a spot in the playoffs of IPL 2024.
The match, initially impacted by rain, was curtailed to a 16-over contest, intensifying the competition between the two formidable sides.With this triumph, KKR now boast 52 wins at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, mirroring the achievement of the Hardik Pandya-led MI at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, marking a historic milestone in the IPL’s illustrious history.
Other IPL teams with the most wins at specific venues include Chennai Super Kings (49 at MA Chidambaram Stadium), Royal Challengers Bangalore (42 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium), and Rajasthan Royals (37 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium), each achieving this milestone at their respective home grounds.

Currently occupying the top position on the points table, KKR have secured nine wins and suffered three losses, amassing 18 points. In contrast, MI find themselves at the bottom with four wins and nine losses, accumulating eight points, highlighting the divergent fortunes of the two franchises in IPL 2024.
