‘Doesn’t happen without…’: After five wins on the trot, Zaheer Khan lauds Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s stunning turnaround | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: After six defeats in a row, their IPL 2024 campaign was almost done and dusted, but Royal Challengers Bengaluru put up a remarkable turnaround to get back in the reckoning of the playoffs race.
Securing five wins on the trot, RCB are right back in the hunt for a play-off spot, and the rampant side looks like a serious threat to other teams vying for the third and fourth slots.
The RCB’s winning run has been lauded by many and former India pacer Zaheer Khan also joined the bandwagon, hailing the side for an unbelievable turnaround in the second half of the league.
Zaheer said that such drastic changes in fortunes do not happen without passion, and the franchise gets full marks for the way they have bounced back after a horrid start.
On Sunday, RCB continued with their second-half surge, securing a 47-run win over Delhi Capitals at their home ground of M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
“They lost six in a row and have now picked up five consecutive wins. This does not happen without passion, so you have to appreciate that. We do not usually see a team revive its season like this after so many losses, so RCB gets full marks. Whatever you can control is what you base your expectations on, and RCB is showing that. Their last match is against CSK, so one of those teams, or both of them, could end up with 14 points. Due to this, the other results are important. They have improved their run rate as well. If all these things go RCB’s way until the final match, it will be an extremely interesting contest,” Zaheer said on Jio Cinema.
After losing seven of the first eight league games, RCB has turned their season around with five successive wins to keep their playoff hopes alive. They are now currently at the fifth spot on the points table and there are chances that RCB might be in a knock-out face-off with Chennai Super Kings for a fourth spot.
RCB currently have 12 points, with a potential to reach 14 when they play CSK in their final league game. The Men in Yellow have 14 points. A win in this game might offer them a chance to enter the playoffs as RCB have a better run rate.
To go with that, RCB also have to rely on other results as LSG — at 12 points — have two games left and can reach 16 points.
