NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially filed his nomination papers for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on Tuesday, a process marked by the presence and support of four notable proposers, each representing a distinct facet of the diverse cultural and social tapestry of Varanasi.
Among the proposers is the astrology scholar Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid, a figure revered not only for his knowledge in astrology but also for his role in determining the auspicious moment for the foundation laying of the Ram Janambhumi and the consecration of Ram Lalla.
Lalchand Kushwaha, a 65-year-old textile shop owner and a veteran BJP cadre from the Cantt assembly area, brings the support of the traditional business community and the OBC segment to Modi’s nomination.
Sanjay Sonkar, aged 50 and serving as the party’s district unit general secretary, is another key proposer. Hailing from the City North assembly area, Sonkar’s involvement highlights the support from the Dalit community, underlining the inclusive appeal of PM Modi’s leadership across different social strata.
Baijnath Patel from Sevapuri is the fourth person to propose PM Modi, showing his broad backing in Varanasi from different social groups. This highlights the diverse support for the Prime Minister in his constituency.
