Sourav Ganguly’s advice to Team India for T20 World Cup, says we have to play… | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Former skipper of the Indian cricket team Sourav Ganguly shared his insights on Saturday regarding the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup campaign for Team India. He emphasized the importance of the players adopting a free-spirited approach from the beginning of their innings during the prestigious event.
According to Ganguly, the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup is “fantastic,” and he expressed his optimism about the team’s performance in the highly anticipated ICC tournament.
“We hope that India will play well. All the players are good. There are so many players in our country that it becomes difficult to select the playing XI. We are spoiled for choices. They have a fantastic side,” Ganguly told ANI at an event.
The ex-skipper expressed the difficulty in forecasting the top five teams due to the unpredictable nature of the T20 format, acknowledging that any team has the potential to advance.
When asked if he would like to offer guidance to the Indian team, Ganguly responded, “This is Rahul Dravid‘s job because he is the coach. We will just watch and cheer for India. I would just like to say that we have to play freely in the T20 format.”
The West Indies and the USA will host the ICC T20 World Cup from June 2 to 29, featuring top cricketing nations vying for the prestigious title.
India will be determined to break their ICC trophy drought, which has persisted since their triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. Despite reaching the finals and semifinals of various ICC tournaments, including the 50-over World Cup, ICC World Test Championship, and T20 WC, India has fallen short of securing a major ICC trophy in recent years.
The Indian team will be striving to clinch their second T20 WC title, with their only success coming in the inaugural edition held in South Africa in 2007. In the previous edition hosted by Australia in 2022, India suffered a disappointing 10-wicket defeat against England in the semifinals.
