Driver’s lucky escape after car plunges into river in Norway as wooden bridge collapses | world news

A driver was lucky to escape after his car plunged into a river in Norway when a wooden bridge collapsed.

The fall from the bridge also left a truck stuck in a nearly vertical position on a collapsed section.

Police said a helicopter assisted in the rescue operation in Gudbrandsdalen and pulled the driver out of the truck.

The driver of the car managed to get out of his vehicle alone.

An image from the scene shows the wooden bridge broken into several pieces, with large sections underwater.

Both drivers are doing well after their ordeal, police said.
