Never Said Who Will Lead or Become Prime Minister: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge Calls for Opposition Unity | News from India

NEW DELHI: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday once again asked opposition unit in front of the Lok Sabha Polls 2024. “All like-minded opposition parties should unite against dividing forces,” she said.
Kharge indicated that a PM candidate’s application for such a bloc was “not the application”. “I never said who will lead or who will become Prime Minister. That’s not the issue. We want to fight together united, that’s our wish,” he said during his speech at a DMK event celebrating the party chairman’s 70th birthday and head and Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin.
“Congress-DMK alliance in Tamil Nadu resulted in Lok Sabha victories in 2004 and 2009. We must continue to strengthen our alliance”, Kharge added.
Making fun of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Congress President said that even when the common man is hit by inflation, the BJP is interested in polarizing society to win elections.
“More than 23 million people have been pushed below the poverty line due to the failure of the BJP government. The common man is hit by inflation, the youth are hit by unemployment, but the BJP is interested in polarizing society to win the election,” he added.
