Fleming to be Texas Super Kings coach in Major League Cricket in US as CSK announces partnership | Cricket News

DALLAS (US): Former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming will coach Dallas Major league cricket (MLC) clubs Texas Super Kings (TSK), which has announced its partnership with IPL team Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Four-time IPL champions CSK recently said they would make a “major announcement” regarding their association with the new T20 tournament in the United States.
TSK said in a statement that CSK will bring “operational expertise” and help “Texas be competitive on the ground.”
“The team (Texas Super Kings) will be led by coach Stephen Fleming. Fleming is a former captain of the New Zealand national cricket team and head coach of Indian Premier League side Chennai Super Kings. He played in the first-ever international Twenty20 game to captain the New Zealand team in 2005,” a statement from TSK read.
Fleming is a longtime head coach at CSK and has guided the Chennai franchise to four IPL titles.
CSK have joined Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians as the third IPL team to link up with the six-team MLC, which is set to start on July 13.
The six MLC teams are San Francisco Unicorns, Lost Angeles, MI New York, Seattle orcasTexas Super Kings and Washington DC.
Delhi Capitals, co-owned by GMR Group, partners with Seattle Orcas to “help build and operate a world-class cricketing team”, while Mumbai Indians have joined the American cricket revolution by acquiring the franchise from New York.
Meanwhile, the six MLC teams completed the National Player Draft at the Space Center in Houston, where they each selected nine players from more than 100 eligible cricketers to represent the “American cricketer community.”
The rest of each team’s roster will consist of the best T20 cricketers from around the world.
“Cricket is the second most popular sport in the world with a global fan base of around 2.5 billion followers, but there has been no opportunity for the sport to grow in the United States. “, said Anurag Jainco-owner of the MLC Texas Super Kings.
